![]() ![]() Maybe Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was the straw that broke the camel's back. That release window is looking even more cramped with Bethesda's supernatural shooter Redfall coming in hot one week later, on May 2. Thanks to a six-week delay, Respawn's title is now landing on Ap– the same day that Dead Island 2 was set to launch. Of course, Dambuster could be artfully avoiding a clash with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Releasing one week earlier than planned is testament to that confidence. For a game that could’ve been quietly cancelled about ten times within the last nine years, with barely anyone batting an eyelid, they’ve stuck with it and it's finally gone gold. The good news is, the team at Dambuster seems confident with their final product. Led by publisher Deep Silver, Dead Island 2 started development in the hands of Yager Development shortly after the release of the first game in the series. With Capcom's Dead Rising 5 dead and buried, we desperately need someone else to shuffle into the void it left behind, and hopefully Dead Island 2 is up to the task. That being said, I was won over by the Dead Island 2 which saw a tonal shift from sombre to self-aware goofiness. I learned my lesson though – never trust a trailer that doesn't show actual gameplay. During Gamesom 2022, a new trailer for the long-awaited zombie survival game was released, with a surprise reveal that the game is coming out on February 3, 2023. I, like many others, fell for the first Dead Island's poignant CGI debut trailer but the game itself felt like a mediocre Dead Rising knockoff. The sequel to 2011’s Dead Island has had a rough time. Luckily, the devs are up for poking fun at Dead Island 2's troubled development Dambuster posted the new date announcement on its twitter account, with a trailer that showed off some comments on social media like “who wants to beat they delay it again” and “how many more times will y’all delay this game”. The new Dead Island 2 release date is Apon both last-gen and current-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and PC. There was very little shown up until the game’s re-reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live in 2022. It was announced at E3 2014 with a phenomenal trailer, then the game went quiet for years as it switched hands across different developers twice. So mark your calendars, folks! The new Dead Island 2 release date is Apon both last-gen and current-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and PC. ![]() That’s right, the game's developer: Dambuster Studios has just announced that, not only has Dead Island 2 gone gold, but that it'll be launching one week earlier than anticipated. Once again the date has been changed… to a week earlier! I really enjoyed it, and I hope you will too.Since its original reveal in 2014, Dead Island 2 has been delayed… A lot. This game will likely entertain you for 15-20 hours if you do a few sides, run around, and complete the story. It’s taken more than decade for the sequel, but one of the most highly. To get every achievement took me around 30ish hours. Dead Island 2 is the follow-up to the original which released 12 years ago in 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. ![]() This game will be short and fun for most people. That's not a bad thing, but the main story is only like 10 hours long if you really streamline it. Mostly, the story serves as a mechanism to introduce new areas and mechanics. You could probably argue that the vapidness of most of the characters is intentional, but that's a cop out. As expected, the story is weak, but has a few memorable moments. No game I've ever played has realistic of a hack-and-slash mechanic as Dead Island 2. The gore mechanic is well done, and is the standout of this game. Combat is relatively straightforward, but some weapon mods and environmental cues make it more engaging. The game focuses on the outbreak, and the zombies, with combat being the main draw here. If you're a fan of the zombie genre, this will be a good game at full price, and a great game on sale. ![]()
